Lich King

My friends are big fans of World of Warcraft so I decided to paint something from WoW based on many discussions....

So here we have the Lich King, I liked his bad ass armour so had to try it out, bit of a deviation in technique for myself as I'm relearning Painter and PS, this is completely digital....

EDIT:

I recently submitted this pic to the Blizzard Fan Art program where I've received a nice email from the Associate Community Manager (EU) at Blizzard Europe asking if they could showcase this image in Blizzcon 2009 at Anaheim....!!!!!!!!

I love the painting and the his smoking ice, I see you created some splatter brushes and tried to create the ice effect, it worked quite well at the bottom of the cape, it showed an interesting freezing affect, but I think the splashes towards his torso take a bit away from the picture (like you said) but interesting idea!

Very nice! I've not got any interest in Warcraft either, but that's a much better picture than anything I've seen for that character! I like the waterstain effect on the fade at the bottom.

Cheers, the designs on some of the enemies and creatures are insane....
